About Our Principal

Message from the Principal

Mark Twain Elementary is truly a school that instills a genuine sense of pride and success shared by all - students, staff, parents, volunteers, and the community.  We strive to promote academic success in Literacy and Math as well as to promote well-being and health through Physical Education, the Nutrition Network and positive behavior by practicing Outstanding Attitude Respectful Safe (O.A.R.S). Furthermore, we shape our students to be critical thinkers in the Sciences, Arts and Technology.

Mark Twain also houses the only Dual Language Academic Strand within the Lawndale Elementary School District. Within this strand, we strive to promote pride and success through delivering a strong immersion standards-based program which supports our students in becoming bilingual, biliterate, and bi-cultural. We hold annual recruitment meetings for this program which continues to fill spaces quickly and draws students from all over Lawndale.

Our goal is that every student will leave Mark Twain with a strong academic education, be prepared for the rigors of middle school and high school, and have success in college.

Mark Twain offers intervention support, academic enrichment, monthly family nights, monthly parent spotlights, weekly home-school connection information, student leadership, and other enrichment opportunities. We want parents to continue building partnerships at Mark Twain through our  Parent Meetings, Volunteer Opportunities, PTA, and monthly Family Nights. Please don’t hesitate to call or stop by and get to know us!

Thank you for taking a moment to read this.
